Calm, Approach, Integrate
As a therapist specializing in trauma, I have learned that trauma affects every aspect of a person's being: physical, emotional, cognitive, and spiritual. At Rebuilding Hope, The Sexual Assault Center of Pierce County, I witnessed the profound impact of trauma and believe that comprehensive treatment in all these areas is essential for healing. To address trauma, I gravitate towards Eye Movement and Desensitization Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Somatic Therapies, Narrative Therapy, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT).
In therapy, I utilize CBT to explore and challenge negative thought patterns and beliefs that have emerged from the trauma. By reframing these thoughts, we promote healthier perspectives and coping strategies. Somatic therapies recognize the mind-body connection, using techniques like mindfulness and body awareness to release stored trauma and cultivate safety and regulation.
Narrative Therapy helps survivors reconstruct their personal narrative, empowering them to create alternative narratives that foster resilience and agency in their healing journey. Additionally, DBT equips survivors with skills for emotion regulation, distress tolerance, and improved interpersonal relationships. By integrating these therapeutic approaches, I aim to provide tailored treatment that addresses each survivor's unique needs, promoting healing, empowerment, and reclaiming well-being.
I offer 50 minutes appointments in person, telehealth, or walk & talk. I am out-of-network or private pay but can provide you a superbill to give to your insurance for reimbursement.
